Reg Richardson has been self-employed since the seventies, owning and managing businesses in the service industries, including pharmaceutical wholesaling, information management, document self-storage and property.

He is currently Chairman of the Melanoma Institute Australia, which was founded in 2010 following a donation of $40 million from his close friend and colleague, Greg Poche.  The Melanoma Institute is now recognised as the world leader in melanoma research and treatment.

Reg is a Co-Founder of the Poche Centres of Indigenous Health at the Universities of Sydney, Melbourne, Queensland, Western Australia and Flinders University and serves on the Advisory Boards at these universities.  Greg Poche has donated $10 million to each university.

In 2013, he was made an Honorary Fellow of the University of Sydney, in recognition of his philanthropic activities across the university and outside of it.

In 2014, Reg was made a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow for his philanthropic activities.

In 2014, he was awarded Arts NSW Highest Achievement Award for his work in the community.

To date, Reg has raised $123 million for charitable projects, with $102 million being donated by Greg Poche.

In 2015, he was appointed to the NSW Advisory Council of St Vincent’s Health Australia.

Reg is a Director of the Friends of the Mater Foundation and a member of the St Vincent’s Hospital Art Committee which, over time, has sourced approximately 500 art works, which hang in the public hospital at no cost to the Hospital.

Previously Reg has been a Director of the Mercy Foundation, the Ted Noffs Foundation, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Art Gallery of NSW Foundation.
