Gentlemen,
Welcome to the Winter edition
2022, of the Blue & Blue.
We sincerely hope that Easter finds each of you and your families in good health and free from the ravaging effects of viruses during this ongoing pandemic and enjoying all the spiritual and physical blessings that come with Easter. For most of us, the sight of grandchildren with their friends, scurrying to find Easter eggs is such a delight in itself. It's especially so, for those of us who still retain the capacity to remember our grandchildren.
An apology is due for the delay in publication of this edition and you may find that some of the content is somewhat dated. Ever since we began posting content supportive of the democratic movement in Hong Kong and maintaining awareness of the sacrafices of those who perished in Tiananmen Square in 1989, we have had increasing numbers of cyberattacks, paralysing production for extended periods. Our resolve to support democratic struggles in China, Ukraine, Myanmar and elsewhere continues regardless.
Courageous young voices from Marist students and others, who remain supportive of human rights, is wherein our Marist legacy lies. Deviating from our usual format of providing uplifting, humorous, challenging and informative anecdotes on ex-students and past teachers, we begin this edition with news of those recently departed, particularly with deference to Fr. John Worthington (Class of 1964) and too, Br. Norman Hart, ex-headmaster of Marist Brothers Darlinghurst. Fr. John leaves a legacy of love, shared widely and profusely, which shall linger like a trail of comet dust across the many of humankind who were fortunate enough to have encountered him. RIP Fr. John.
